Assists in the daily routine duties of maintaining the school facilities and surrounding athletic facilities and provide for efficient operations necessary so that the best educational use can be made of the facilities at all times.  This position performs a variety of preventative maintenance and repair duties as related to emergency electrical systems, basic electrical repairs, temperature control, boiler operation, refrigeration systems, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, heating, cooling, domestic water lines, and general building maintenance as well as duties of a general nature including carpentry, insect spraying, flooring, grass mowing, and many other areas which may need attention.

 

High school graduate or general education degree (GED); Universal Refrigerant Transitional and Recovery License.  Training or experience in HVAC or the refrigeration field with one or two years prior related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities in HVAC, boiler, and industrial building maintenance.  Demonstrates understanding and mechanical ability in the areas of basic techniques of HVAC, temperature control, electrical repair, boiler operations, refrigeration systems, general building maintenance, and mechanical equipment.  Ability to lift and/or carry weights of 100 pounds or more in moving equipment, furniture, and materials.  Ability to work effectively in a school building and outdoor environment being exposed to all types of weather.
